Rotary Club of Narre Warren-Board of Directors 2017/18
The new Board of the Rotary Club of Narre Warren and special guests, President Mamad is in the middle.
President: Dr. Mohamad Hassan Amin
Dr. Mohamad Hassan Amin (known as “Mamad”) is the President of the Rotary Club of Narre Warren for the years 2017-18, beginning 19th July 2017. Mamad joined the Rotary Club of Strathmore in June 2009. He then transferred to the Rotary Club of Narre Warren in 2011. For the last few years, he has served the Rotary Club as the Foundation & International Chairman. Mamad has been the councillor for an exchange student from Italy. Also, he and his wife, Shahnaz, were hosts for an exchange student from the Netherlands. He has selected Membership, Friendship and Fellowships as his theme for 2017-18. He has published 80+ refereed papers in leading material science and chemistry journals, and three chemistry textbooks, and also hold 18 patents. Currently, he is employed as a Research Scientist with the Centre for Advanced Materials & Industrial Chemistry, within the School of Science at RMIT University.
Cylcone Debbie Assistance
In support of those Australians affected by the Recent Cyclone Debbie, The Rotary Club of Narre Warren have donated $500 to an appeal to help those affected. The assistance and money is being raised and managed by Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) to assist communities in Rotary Districts 9550 9570, 9600, 9630 and 9640 in QLD and NSW.

Ian Riseley incoming Global President – An Australian
Ian H.S. Riseley, of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, is the incoming President of Rotary International for the year 2017-18, beginning July 2017. Riseley says that meaningful partnerships with corporations and other organizations are crucial to Rotary’s future. “We have the programs and personnel and others have available resources,” says Riseley. “Doing good in the world is everyone’s goal. We must learn from the experience of the polio eradication program to maximize our public awareness exposure for future partnerships.” Riseley is a practicing accountant and principal of Ian Riseley and Co., which specializes in advising local and international businesses, and has a strong interest in international affairs. He received the AusAID Peacebuilder Award from the Australian government in 2002 in recognition of his work in Timor-Leste. He also received the Order of Australia medal in 2006 for service to the Australian community. A member since 1978, Riseley has served Rotary as treasurer, director, trustee, RI Board Executive Committee member, task force member, committee member and chair, and district governor. He is also a former member of the Australian Polio Eradication Private Sector Campaign and a recipient of The Rotary Foundation’s Service Award for a Polio-Free World. He and his wife, Juliet, are Multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, and Bequest Society members.
Review Mental Health Forum
Last night Wednesday 29 th March, we held a Mental Health Forum in Narre Warren to hear guest speakers inform the public about identifying mental illness, how we can help and manage mental illness and what we can do to live a lifestyle that helps to avoid metal illness. We thank the presenters and all those involved, especially our Event Manager Lilian who set up and managed the event. We thank the Narre Warren South P12 School for the Hall as well as sponsors, Bendigo Bank, Bunnings, Ben Hill Websites, Judging by the questions in the Q & A session the crowd were well engaged and we hope that we have help people in some way to live a better life.
